Subject: astroid 18610 ~ Arthurdent ( 1 of 5 )
Posted by Timeloyd Rich

In tribute to Douglas Adams astroid 18610 (why no 42 in number ..oh well
its just this astroid you know ) was
named Arthurdent after Arthur Dent the Earth survivior in The Hitchhikers Guide to Th Galaxy.
It is currently too close to the sun
to be observed (elongation of about 20 degreses). It's current magnitute is 19
to faint to be observed via amateur scopes and CCD camera.
Great News astroid 18610 Arthurdent
will be in opposition (elongation about 180 ) It's magnitude will be about 16.6
easily imaged to a 10" scope and a CCCD camera although still to faint for amateur scopes. It will be visible for most of th night. Since it is not moving fast expostures seperated by about 20 minutes or so will be necessary according to nemeci.
With astroid Arthurdent becoming visible on February 1, 2002 and Hoopy
Adams Day being February 11 and the
42nd day of the year. it should be a
veryspecial time. I wonder.... DNA 4FR
