Subject: A Great Loss ( 1 of 1 )
Posted by Nathan Jones

This tribute is long overdue, but I wanted to pay my respects to a great man that I will have memories of for the rest of my life.
I am 23 and never read books, not because I canít or because me parents never tried, just because I donít.
My tribute goes to Douglas as he is the only author that has ever made me reach for a book.
I was shown The Hitch Hikers Guide to The Galaxy on the BBC at a young age by my uncle, and this spurred me to read the books. After completing these I moved on to Dirk Gentlyís Holistic Detective Agency and The Long Dark Tea Time of The Sole. These are the only books that I have ever really read. No other authors have had a grip on me like Douglas had and this I value. If nothing else this shows what a great writer Douglas was and I know that he would be glad that he had affected me in this way. If I had never read these, I doubt that I would have read anything.
He died long before his time.
His work will live on in my memories.

So long Douglas........
