I have known the perfect person to play Dirk, but unfortunately he is not an actor. I met him after reading the two Dirk Gently books, and he is almost a perfect match. Unfortunately, every time he attempts to act, it comes off badly, so he's definitely out. Which is unfortunate, as he practically IS Dirk Gently.
