I've read PYGMALION several times through (use the "Done the old woman in" monologue frequently), and noticed that Shaw didn't use apostrophes. Or else the editor/typesetter/publisher didn't use apostrophes. At any rate, there's someone down the line who didn't use them.

By the same token, my friend Christina's Power PC seems to have independantly made a similar decision. Which, as I was reading a rough draft of one of her stories, raised this question: how do the apostrophically-challenged ones explain "he'll"?

It would do all right for theologists, but I don't know about children's writers.
