Subject: Re: religious tendencies ( 4 of 47 )
Posted by Weird Billy, the Janitor

It has always seemed to me that those fascinated by religion are those who do not believe in religion or adhere to a religious faith. Too often, those that profess to be religious and to live by fiath have no interest in the foundations of their beliefs, the history of their beliefs. An unfortunate tragedy.

Once, while in a discussion of atheism, it was stated to me that atheists do not adhere to a religous faith because there are too many questions. Once you adequately resolve one question, up pops another equally or more difficult. It is an endless stream of unanswerable or near-unanswerable questions. Though this may be an interesting, or even true, statement, I think there is more to it than this, for atheists are, typically, quite intelligent and, it seems, would not form a system of values or beliefs/non-beliefs simply because there existed too many difficult questions.
